Court Sittings & Vacation Periods
- Annual Vacation: The High Court’s annual vacation is scheduled from May 19 to June 15, 2025.
- Partial Court Working Days: These are scheduled from May 26 to July 13, 2025. During this period, the Registry remains open except on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Court Working Saturdays: Specific Saturdays are designated as working days for the High Court: Jan 18, Feb 15, Mar 22, Apr 19, Aug 30, Nov 1, and Nov 15.
Key General Holidays (2025)
Major holidays for the High Court include:
- New Year’s Day: Jan 01 to 02.
- Holi: March 10 to 15.
- Eid-ul-Fitre: March 31 to April 01.
- Independence Day: August 15.
- Durga Puja Holidays: September 28 to October 06 (includes Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday and Laxmi Puja).
- Diwali, Dawat Puja & Chhath: October 20 to 29.
- Christmas Holidays: December 25 to 31.
- Special Closure: The Court and its offices will remain closed on November 6, 2025, for the Assembly Election-2025.

Standard working hours are adjusted for specific festival days:

Note: Morning court sessions for District Courts (Patna) typically run from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM (including a recess) from April to late June.
Restricted Holidays (RH)
An employee can avail of a maximum of two restricted holidays per year, subject to prior permission and smooth court functioning.
- Shab-E-Barat: Feb 15.
- Last Friday of Ramazan: March 28.
- Mahavir Jayanti: April 10.
- Easter Monday: April 21.
- Raksha Bandhan: August 09.
- Mahalya: September 21.
